Thanks for the Composer map.
Could you please show a Composer map with grids in degrees and scale bar in meters? I think this is more understandable to most map readers.

Do you know if it’s possible to show just tick marks along the map frames without the crosses all over the map? This is pretty common requirement for journals but couldn’t see how to do it in QGis 1.8 and not been able to install 2.0 yet to see if that resolves it.

In 2.0, you can only have ticks together with crosses. I’d open a feature request for “ticks only”. Until that’s implemented, I think it’s fastest to just export twice: once with crosses and once without and the combine them in an image processing tool.

There is currently a problem concerning scalebar measurements: http://hub.qgis.org/issues/7441 but I’ll keep that in mind.
